Climate : Jammu & Kashmir

The Kashmir valley enjoys a salubrious climate throughout the year. Spring is the time of transformation from the rigors of a long winter. The valley wears a blanket of emerald green grass and is decorated with flowers of various hues and fresh leaves. Summer is characterized by snow-capped peaks, clear streams, cool bubbling springs, noisy torrents, and beautiful lakes. This is the season when Kashmir becomes the "play ground of Asia." In autumn, the trees and forests turn into bronze and copper colours, and the flora becomes a riot of golden yellow and green.

There is a great variation in climate in the three regions of Jammu & Kashmir. The region of Kashmir and Jammu includes dry climates in the southwest, a strip of humid temperate climate through the center of the region, and a humid cold climate in the north. Due to extreme weather conditions, the capital of the state during summer is Srinagar and shifts to Jammu during the winter season. The variation in temperature during summer is between 39.9°C and 23.4°C and winter is between 20.2°C and - 4.5°C.
