Srinagar is the nearest airport that provides get in point for Anantnag. It is 62 km from the main city. The other choice of airport is at Jammu. Situated on the outskirts of Pahalgam, Overa Wildlife sanctuary is most allured wildlife reserve for tourists. It houses the animals like snow leopard, Deer, Langur, and other endangered species. It is scattered in the area of 32 sq km and is nearly 75 km from Srinagar.

Dachigam Wildlife Sanctuary in Srinagar

Spread over the landscaped area of 140 square kilometer, Dachigam wildlife sanctuary is one of the important reserves of Jammu & Kashmir.

It is located at elevation ranging between 1700 and 4000 meters. The park is situated 22 km from Srinagar and is abode for rare species of trees, animals, and birds.

Ram Nagar Wildlife Sanctuary in Jammu

Ramnagar is one of the easiest destinations of Jammu Kashmir to explore its wildlife. It is located at 6 km distance from Jammu. It is occupied in the area of 31 sq km at an altitude ranging from 430 and 611 meters. Jammu Tawi railway station is the most appropriate way to reach this sanctuary.

Kishtwar High Altitude National Park

As one of the biggest wild reserves, Kishtwar High Altitude National Park is an alluring place for nature enthusiasts.

It houses 15 rare species of mammals along with wide range of trees, birds and rare fauna.

This national park is situated at the distance of 250 km from Jammu.

Achabal Wildlife Sanctuary in Anantnag

Achabal Wildlife sanctuary territory begins from the popular Mughal Garden which is spread over in the area of almost 12 sq km. It preserves flora and fauna in its premises. The location of Achabal is easy to trace from the city of Anantnag.

Nandini Wildlife Sanctuary in Jammu

Leopard, Goral, Grey Langur, rhesus monkey, and wild boar are the endangered species preserved in Nandini Wildlife Sanctuary.

This reserve is situated at the distance of 26 km from Jammu over an area of 33 sq km.

Surinsar Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary in Jammu

Spread over area of 98 sq km, Surinsar Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary is most desired tourist destination of Jammu Kashmir. It is positioned at distance of 58 kilometers from Jammu. It holds 15 rare species of bird, 8 species of mammals and mixed shrubs in its forest.

Jasrota Wildlife Sanctuary in Jammu Kashmir

Jasrota Wildlife Sanctuary is spread over an area of 10 sq km beneath the streams of Ujh River in Jammu Kashmir. The sanctuary is placed 65 km from the winter capital of J&K, Jammu.

The area is well known for bamboo plantation. September to March is probably the best time to visit and watch migratory as well as resident birds of this sanctuary.

Kazinag National Park in Baramulla

Kazinag National Park is placed along LOC spread across the region of Baramullah. It is occupied at the distance of 70 km from Srinagar at the elevation ranging from 1800-4300 meters. Baramullah railway station is near but it is yet to connect with main line of Baramullah. The park offers better service for travelers to enjoy natural habitats for wildlife of J&K.

Rajaparian Wildlife Sanctuary in Srinagar

Rajaparian Wildlife Sanctuary acquired its name from the stream Rajparian Nallah that drains this region. It is situated nearly 100 km from Srinagar. The wildlife is scattered over the area of 49 sq km. It is protected under the J&K Wildlife Protection Act 1978.

Thajiwas Glacier in Sonamarg
